Birds of prey show at Altena Castle

Klaudia Brommund runs the falconry Horus in Schleswig-Holstein near Kiel. The falconer comes to Altena Castle with falcons, eagles, owls and buzzards for the demonstration. The greyhounds, which are also on display, are particularly special. The birds demonstrate their skills during the half-hour flight show, which starts at 14:00 and 16:00. The breathtaking flying skills of the birds are a real experience for the spectators. Between the two demonstrations there is the opportunity to hold an animal in your hand and take a photo. Hunting with falcons was a special privilege of the nobility in the Middle Ages. This is vividly illustrated in the permanent exhibition of the Altena Castle Museums on the subject of hunting. The museum is open on Sunday from 11:00 to 18:00. Instead of admission, a donation is requested according to the motto "Pay what you want".
