The tourism industry in the Sauerland is an important economic factor, shapes the region and offers a diverse, attractive working environment. Many young people have therefore made a conscious decision to work in tourism. In order to bring together the numerous protagonists from the region, the 1st Sauerland Tourism Barcamp has now taken place under the motto "together.networked.future-oriented." took place at the Music Education Center Südwestfalen in Bad Fredeburg.

"With this alternative event form, we would like to give young players in the industry the opportunity to network more closely and receive new input for their work," Rouven Soyka, press spokesman for Sauerland Tourism, explains the intention behind the event. "The principle of the bar camp with its informal structure without any major specifications provides the perfect framework for this." And this invitation was accepted by more than 20 young tourism professionals, who expanded their knowledge in several 45-minute sessions, joined in the discussion and represented their views on sometimes tricky questions.

Because the special thing about the barcamp principle: At the beginning of the event, the participants themselves were able to suggest topics they would like to discuss. "It was possible to offer a session or "just" join in the discussion," explained Julia Fust, co-organizer and responsible for foreign marketing at Sauerland Tourism. "What's important about the format of a bar camp is the joint exchange, the establishment of contacts and perhaps even the development of joint projects," Fust continues. All players act at eye level here. Even between the sessions and during the joint lunch break, there was always the opportunity to network and further deepen conversations.

Sauerland Tourism was supported as organizer by Veltins Brewery, which provided participants with refreshing drinks from its range during and after the event and helped to give the event a young flair. "We would like to express our sincere thanks once again for this," says Soyka.
