The new section of the Ruhr-Eder GeoRadroute was officially opened with a group ride. As part of a promotional tour, representatives from the tourism industry, local governments, and partner businesses took the opportunity to explore the approximately 20-kilometer route between Hallenberg, Dreislar, Medelon, and Medebach and to engage in in-depth discussions.

The new section closes an important gap in the route and offers real added value for cycling vacationers. Effective immediately, the approximately 210-kilometer-long GeoRadroute Ruhr-Eder can not only be ridden as a single loop but also flexibly divided into two smaller loops, forming a figure-eight shape. This makes the route even more appealing to a variety of target groups and fitness levels.

The varied route leads through typical low-mountain landscapes, past geological features, and through charming villages. It was precisely this combination of nature experiences, geotourism, and cycling infrastructure that was the focus of the joint tour. In addition to product knowledge, networking among the stakeholders also played a central role.

“With the new connecting section, the Ruhr-Eder GeoRadroute becomes even more flexible and engaging. The option to ride two more compact loops is particularly appealing to day visitors and leisure cyclists,” emphasizes Lajana Hebbecker, Cycling Program Manager at Sauerland Tourism. “At the same time, these joint rides deepen our understanding of the product and foster collaboration among our partners. This is a key component in the qualitative development of the region’s cycling offerings.”

The Ruhr-Eder GeoRadroute uniquely combines cycling with geological history. Information panels along the route provide insights into the region’s geological features, turning the tour into an active nature and learning experience. With the newly opened section, the route is now even more diverse and well-prepared for the upcoming cycling season.
