Tourist Info of the city of Brilon
Anyone walking through Brilon's Altstadt walks through many centuries. Encounters silent witnesses of the times who, if they could tell stories, would fill moving novels. First mentioned in 973, Brilon grew into one of the most important Hanseatic cities in Westfalen and one of the largest cities in Germany in terms of area.
The worth seeing Altstadt of the historic Hanseatic city invites to a relaxed stroll. The course of the old Brilon city wall is still clearly recognizable on the basis of a city map, aerial photographs and, not least, the street names. Since almost all of the sights are located within the old city wall, visitors can easily reach them on short distances.
Here you can experience a modern, active city in its historical garb and a harmonious coexistence of yesterday and today.
