Sauerland-Höhenflug: Winter hike around the Kahler Asten

This winter hiking trail is cleared of snow and therefore makes for a particularly easy hiking experience. The certified winter hiking trail follows the Hochheide nature trail, which runs along the plateau of the Kahler Asten without any inclines. At 25 stations along the Heid Trail, you can learn about the importance of nature conservation, which is actually cultural protection, about the mowers of the Heid - the sheep, who ultimately ensure that this unique landscape is preserved - and explore many questions about animals, plants, weather and history.The start is the parking lot at Bergasthof Kahler Asten. From here, follow the Sauerland-Höhenflug in the direction of Altastenberg. The Sauerland-Höhenflug runs parallel to the Hochheidepfad. With magnificent views, the trail climbs the Kahler Asten. At the halfway point, we leave the Sauerland-Höhenflug (which descends via a narrow path on the northern slope) and hike back to the Astenturm, where the bistro and restaurant invite you to stop for a bite to eat.
