The hike begins at the "Padberg Cathedral," St. Mary Magdalene. We walk across the Padberg village square, past the former city gate and the "Zum Burghof" inn, to the Neuer Hagen. The trail passes below the ruins of the “Neues Haus” castle along the Sauerland-Camino to the Padberg field cross, where there are benches for resting. The hike continues uphill to the Raumberg. It’s worth looking back along the way—in the Hoppeck Valley, you can see the former Bredelar Monastery. From the summit, you’ll enjoy a superb panoramic view. You can also see the historic town of Obermarsberg with its Stiftskirche and Nikolaikirche. We’ll hike downhill through Utbühl, Judengrund, and Homberg back to the starting point. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a fantastic view of Padberg with its two churches and the synagogue. The tour ends back at Kirche St. Maria Magdalena. Places to rest and the interactive village tour “The Lords of the Ring 2.0” await us in the village square. It’s well worth visiting the Baroque Kirche St. Maria Magdalena and the over 1,000-year-old fortified Petrus- Kirche.
