A healthy mind lives in a healthy body and vice versa. Sebastian Kneipp already realized this in the middle of the 19th century and based his health concept on five pillars.
In addition to water treatments, these include exercise therapy, a healthy diet - balanced and varied, the proven healing power of herbs and inner balance, which deals with personal lifestyle. Under the motto "Stay fit - Kneipp with you!", you can experience on the 3.5 km long path that Kneipp is good for the body and keeps you fit.
The Kneipp trail "In Kneipp's footsteps" begins at the church square in Bad Fredeburg, directly at the Kneipp fountain next to the St. Georg Catholic parish church. Follow the road "In der Schmiedinghausen" for about 650 m (approx. 9 min.) until you reach the road "Unter der Suntelt". Turn left here and then immediately right again after about 10 m to reach the Schmiedinghausen spa gardens. You will soon reach the 1st information board, on which the health recommendations of Pastor Dr. Sebastian Kneipp are depicted.As you continue through the park, you come to the water treading and arm pool, where you can experience the beneficial effects of the water. The medicinal plants pillar depicts 16 herbs that you can find in the park and explains their properties and possible uses.At the end of the park, continue straight ahead and enter a forest. You will soon reach the Balance health pillar. Here you will be introduced to the mindfulness walk. After 10 - 15 minutes, walking in silence if possible and testing your senses, you will reach a bench with a beautiful view of Bad Fredeburg and the surrounding area. Now continue along the path and come to the last pillar of movement. The Kneipp trail sign leads to the right and after a few meters you turn left past the Hotel zum Hallenberg down the street "Am Hallenberg". Along the way, a swing and a bench invite you to enjoy the beautiful view. Continuing downhill, you reach the "Hochstraße" and the path leads past beautiful half-timbered houses back to the starting point at the Kneipp fountain.
We recommend sturdy shoes, clothing suitable for the weather and sufficient food and drink.
A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and hiking signposts. All signposts along this trail are designated as rescue points with official location numbers.
