Medebach – “Around the Kahlen (M1)” is a short, family-friendly cycling loop that lets you experience the character of the Medebach vacation region in a pleasantly relaxed way. The signposted tour covers about eight kilometers, following mostly paved paths through the open landscape of the Medebach Bay, past meadows, fields, and the gentle hills of the Sauerland. The fairly moderate inclines make the loop particularly suitable for families with children, leisure cyclists, and anyone who wants to combine an easy ride with beautiful scenery. A detour to Glindfeld adds a cultural touch. There, St. Laurentius Chapel and the old monastery walls serve as reminders of the town’s history. If you’d like to take a break, the paddling pool offers a refreshing chance to catch your breath; the well-maintained grounds are also perfect for a small picnic in the countryside. Back in Medebach, a visit to the Garden of Generations is a must, where play areas and a peaceful park atmosphere come together. The M1 loop trail combines nature, exercise, and regional history into a compact experience. It’s ideal for a light bike ride in between other activities, as an introduction to the Medebach cycling region, or as a relaxed family outing with places to stop for refreshments.

Information

Directions

The circular cycle route is signposted throughout with a green "M1"and the starting point for this 8 km circular tour is the tourist information office on the market square. From here, we take Niederstraße through the one-way street "Auf der Burg" in the direction of Schützenstraße and then turn right onto Gelängeweg. We follow this out of the residential areas and into the field. After a fairly steep descent, we cross the Gelängebach and reach the K56, which we follow to the right in the direction of Glindfeld/ Medebach, always slightly uphill. We pass the St. Laurentius chapel, the farm on the left and come to some houses on the right. Here we do not follow the district road, but continue straight ahead onto Glindfelder Weg. This leads us back to Medebach. We reach the market square via Oberstraße.
