At the foot of the St. Muffert Cliff, the idea of a cable car—like the ones found in amusement parks—comes to mind: from the shore of the Diemel Reservoir up to the summit, with a parking lot and snack bar at the bottom and a panoramic café at the top.
However, such a cable car would have required cutting a wide swath through the forest. While the ascent would have been effortless and completed in just a few minutes, the cost would have been high: the destruction of a valuable natural habitat—and the loss of those quiet discoveries that make a hike truly meaningful.
In fact, this plan once existed. Fortunately, it was scrapped.

From the north: Drive toward Hannover and take the A7 toward Kassel until you reach the Kasseler Kreuz interchange, then take the A44 toward Dortmund and take the Marsberg exit toward Diemelsee-Heringhausen.
From the east: Head toward Kassel, then take the A44 toward Dortmund and take the Marsberg exit toward Diemelsee-Heringhausen.
From the west: Head toward Dortmund, take the A44 toward Kassel, and take the Marsberg exit toward Diemelsee-Heringhausen.
