From 29.11.2025 to 11.01.2026, the Christmas tree trail will take you between fields and meadows through the valley below the Christmas town of Schmallenberg, with around 20 illuminated Christmas trees along the way, making the ice crystals glisten in the light. From the valley, you have a fantastic view of the historic Christmas town and the festively illuminated houses. combine the walk with a visit to the Silent Christmas glass art exhibition and a stop at one of the first-class restaurants later on. The fine retail stores in Schmallenberg's Altstadt (Old Town) with their lovingly curated assortments should be included in your visit.

Safety guidelines
A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and on the hiking signs.

There are various bus lines in Schmallenberg, including the S90, SB9 and S40 lines, as well as the Schmallenberg Sauerland hiking bus (closed on Mondays, please note the separate timetable).
