The building was formerly a village school. In 1976, the residents of Welleringhausen expanded the building entirely on their own and added a meeting room and a youth room.
In 2016, the building was fitted with new windows and repainted inside. In addition, the flower bed in front of the community center was redesigned.
Below the community center is a sports field and playground.
