Villa Wippermann was built in 1892 and was a villa typical of the upper middle class of that era.
Following extensive renovation as part of the Regionale 2013, it now houses the Oben an der Volme Regional Museum.
The local history museum has found its home on the upper floor—lovingly maintained by the Halver Local History Association. In addition to permanent exhibits, such as a school classroom from 1900 and a small kitchen, the museum hosts rotating exhibitions on the town’s history, agriculture and economy, technology, and its people.
The ground floor regularly hosts special exhibitions of art, crafts, or documentary nature—a platform for local artists, clubs, and schools. Lectures, guided tours, concerts, and readings accompanying the exhibitions offer a variety of artistic and cultural experiences for all residents of the region. The large hall can accommodate up to 50 visitors. Wedding ceremonies are also held here.
The adjacent park is beautifully landscaped and invites visitors to linger.
