As early as 1900, the town of Balve was supplied with electricity by a power plant at the Gransauer Mill. The transformer house, built in 1913 in the Neo-Gothic style, symbolizes the expansion of the power grid toward Wocklum.
The transformer station can only be viewed from the outside and is located very close to the Luisenhütte and Schloss Wocklum. Adjacent to it are the L1, A1, and A4 hiking trails, as well as an access point to the Sauerland-Waldroute.
