As early as 1900, the town of Balve was supplied with electricity by a power station in the Gransau mill. The transformer house, built in 1913 in neo-Gothic style, stands for the expansion of the energy supply in the direction of Wocklum.
The transformer house can only be viewed from the outside and is very close to the Luisenhütte and Schloss Wocklum. The L1, A1 and A4 hiking trails and access to the Sauerland-Waldroute are located nearby.
