The local mountain Langenberg, which at 843m is the highest elevation in NRW, makes the hearts of experienced hikers beat faster.
The Langenberg is located on the border between Westfalen and northern Hesse on the seam line between Hochsauerland and Upland.
With the Winterberg district of Niedersfeld to the southwest, Willingen with the village of Hoppern to the northeast, Bruchhausen (Olsberg) to the north-northwest and the Hessian Diemelsee Nature Park to the east, its summit lies around 10 m southwest of the Hessian state border.
Various hiking trails, such as the Rothaarsteig, the Winterberg Hochtour or the N2 circular hiking trail, run directly over the summit. The square with the summit cross and seating invites you to take a leisurely break.
