He stands there like the "good shepherd" from the Bible, the shepherd made of green sandstone. Children are most attracted to the little sheep and like to sit on its stone back.
Fritz Viegener, an important sculptor from Soest, designed the shepherd, which was executed by the Soest sculptor Alfons Düchting after Viegener's death. The sheep were sculpted by Herbert Görder from Paderborn.
