A truly special gem is the Sundern Local History Nativity Scene. In addition to biblical scenes, this nativity scene also features 30 deceased figures from Sundern’s town history. Among them are former Federal President Heinrich Lübke from Enkhausen, Bishop Hugo Aufderbeck of Erfurt, and the cart driver Clute-Simon from Allendorf, who, over 200 years ago, saved the remains of the Three Wise Men from the looters of the French Revolution. A replica of the former St. Roch Chapel serves as the stable. During the Christmas season, you can view the nativity scene at St. John’s Church in Sundern’s pedestrian zone.
