The church in Korbach-Alleringhausen is an important landmark of this small town in the Waldeck region and is closely linked to the history of its most famous son. Friedrich Ludwig Peter, later known as Louis Peter, was born here on February 21, 1841. He founded a rubber goods factory, which later evolved into today’s Continental AG.
In 1905, Louis Peter donated a church to his hometown—built on the site of his birthplace. The building was constructed in the Neo-Gothic style, characterized by pointed-arch windows, delicate details, and a slender tower. On July 13, 1905, the church was solemnly consecrated. Among those attending the dedication were Prince Friedrich von Waldeck und Pyrmont and the regional bishop, underscoring the church’s special significance for the region.
Alleringhausen’s ecclesiastical history, however, dates back even further. As early as 1497, a document mentions a chapel in the village—prior to that, Alleringhausen had no place of worship of its own. With the introduction of the Reformation in the Grafschaft Waldeck beginning in 1526, the Protestant faith also took hold in Alleringhausen starting around 1535.
Since 2018, Alleringhausen has belonged to the Eimelrod-Rhena parish and is now part of the Upland church community.
