In the westernmost part of the town of Soest, in Ostönnen, is one of the very few Romanesque village churches to have been preserved in its original style, St. Andrew's Church. It was first mentioned in a document in 1169 and contains the oldest playable organ in the world. It was only after its restoration that the true significance of the organ really came to light. Its origins go back to the year 1430. It also houses a 1000-year-old baptismal font and the church clock is 400 years old.
