Sculpture Trail at the Wendener Hütte Museum
Industrial Heritage
The “Upper Obergraben”—now dry—runs between the Wendener Hütte and the village of Brün. Its course is marked by the four sculptures along the sculpture trail, which add a new dimension to the ways in which visitors can experience this industrial landscape.

Properties:
On a short walk, mostly along natural trails, you’ll come across several sculptures that tie in thematically with the Wendener Hütte.
By scanning the QR codes on the individual information signs, you can learn more about each work of art.
As part of a call for submissions, ideas were sought for sculptures that address the “elements of the ironworks” and explore the themes of water, wood, charcoal, steel, iron, fire, embers, stone, and ore. Four artworks were acquired: *Fire/Water* by Marlies Backhaus, *Lighthouse II* by Volker Schnüttgen, and *Ore* and *Charcoal Kiln* by the studio collective Stefanie Schenk-Busse and Björn Busse.
Of course, exploring the trail can be perfectly combined with a visit to the museum. The Wendener Hütte is a technical cultural monument of early industrialization (1728–1866) and represents a milestone in the development of the iron industry in Südwestfalen.
