The parking lot is located in the Schallershaus area, right next to the Meinhardus Mattenschanzen, and serves as the western starting point of the Sauerland-Höhenflug, alongside the entrance in Altena. Hikers will find plenty of parking spaces, several seating areas and information boards about the route of the Höhenflug and other hiking options in and around Meinerzhagen.
A special bonus is the wide view of the Mattenschanzen opposite, which makes the entrance scenically attractive. If the parking lot is full, there are a further 100 parking spaces available on the Schützenplatz just a few meters away.
An additional information board at the edge of the parking lot provides information on other leisure and excursion destinations in the region. This makes the Schallershaus hiking parking lot suitable both as a starting point for the long-distance hiking trail and for shorter tours in the immediate vicinity.
