The power plant dates back to 1926. The machine hall is a five-bay building, and both its interior and technical facilities are protected. In front of the hall is the weir, which features three concrete towers connected by a walkway. The power plant and weir are leased to the company Elektromark.
Only exterior viewing is permitted. The Lennestau is designated as the Lennestau Nature Reserve in Werdohl-Lengelsen/Wilhelmstal. Please refer to the information under “Accessibility.”

Directions
There are no public trails through the nature reserve. As a general rule, unauthorized persons are not permitted to enter the area. However, it is possible to see into the area from the adjacent roads and paths. A particularly good view can be enjoyed from the Lenne Bridge between Lengelsen and Höllmecke. Waterway travelers are permitted to navigate the Lenne River within the nature reserve at a moderate speed. However, only the right side—that is, the northern bank—may be used, maintaining a minimum distance of 10 meters from the shore.
