The Heimathaus Plettenberg is located in the heart of Plettenberg’s historic city center. It houses a small but fascinating museum that explores the city’s founding and, above all, its industrial heritage. A separate exhibition area also hosts special historical exhibitions as well as art exhibitions.

It serves as the “headquarters” for the activities of the Plettenberg Local History Society. The association uses the building for meetings, gatherings, lectures, and as an archive for its diverse collection of historically valuable artifacts from industry, home life, and agriculture, as well as its extensive collection of written materials.

The Plettenberg Local History Association manages the museum on a volunteer basis and provides staff for guided tours.

The Plettenberg Heimathaus is a point of interest within the WasserEisenLand – Industrial Culture of Südwestfalen network.
