The Marsberg City Museum reflects the development of the local region, the formation of the landscape, the Earth’s history, the archaeological finds made in our area, the history of the region, and, above all, the lives and achievements of the people who lived here.

The museum is a place of discovery where history comes alive, touches people, evokes empathy, and sometimes even inspires wonder.

Of particular significance to the Marsberg region are geology, mining, and history—and, consequently, the city’s development. These three focal points can be uniquely intertwined and contextualized.

Knowledge of geological history—including its mineral resources and the shaping of the landscape—helps visitors see the history of mining, settlement, and urban development in context and illustrates how these elements are mutually interdependent.
