The Eresburg Bogenschützen e.V. operates the Marsberg archery course for its members and guest archers on a volunteer basis.
The Marsberg Archery Course is located on the grounds of a former copper mine. It covers an area of 5.9 hectares. The terrain is very steep and rocky in places, so sturdy footwear is absolutely necessary. The course places certain demands on your physical fitness.
The central point is the “Bogendorf.” Here you’ll find the registration desk, target boards at various distances, and several huts for resting or seeking shelter in bad weather. Free lockers are available here for visitors to the archery course (a 50-cent coin is required as a deposit).
The “RED” course, with 15 stations, and the “YELLOW” course, with 17 stations—including one moving target and over 70 targets—offer shots at all distances and from various angles. The course is set up in accordance with IFAA guidelines.
We have tried to make the shots challenging. This includes deliberately limiting the shooting areas—for example, with trees—as well as incorporating depressions and terrain edges.
There are 3 different shooting positions available, with distances set according to IFAA standards:
- "YELLOW" stake: Youth
- "Blue" target: Adults
- "Red" target: Compound bows
All bows are permitted up to a draw weight of 60 lbs.

To reach the parking lot in Marsberg, always follow the signs for “Besucherbergwerk” or “Kilianstollen.” The parking spaces for visitors to the archery course are located at the back of the Kilianstollen visitor parking lot. There are 10 parking spaces available there. IMPORTANT: To protect local residents, visitors to the archery course are not permitted to drive on the street “Kattwinkel.” From the parking lot, it takes about 5 minutes to reach the archery course on foot. To get there, walk right from the parking lot along the sidewalk toward the city center, then follow “Kattwinkel” Street. At the end of the street, turn left onto the archery course.
