The Listertalsperre offers a wide range of leisure activities. In addition to sailing, fishing, surfing and swimming, the area is particularly popular with hikers, walkers and cyclists. Well-maintained paths around the lake, numerous benches and several forest sofas provide relaxing breaks with views of the water and landscape.

There are also several well-known routes around or along the dam:
Bigge-Lister circular hiking trail (approx. 45 km)

Bigge-Lister-Höhenroute (cycle tour, approx. 64 km)
There are fishing opportunities for anglers (fishing license required).

Public transport: no direct information.
The Listertalsperre is operated by the Ruhrverband. Fishing licenses are available directly from the Ruhrverband and from the Biggesee-Listersee tourism association.

Swimming is only permitted at the designated bathing areas.
Due to the high risk of forest fires, barbecuing and lighting campfires in the forests around the dam is strictly prohibited, especially in the summer months.
