The Iserlohn carillon can be found on the square at the end of Unnaer Straße.

It is a bell tower that was designed by Ernst Dossmann as a gift from Iserlohn businesses (retail, banks and industry, citizens) and was officially put into operation and handed over to the city of Iserlohn on July 2, 1982.

The work was completed with the later addition of the heraldic crown consisting of craftsmen's signs.

On the opposite side of the street, in the building at Theodor-Heuss-Ring 24 (the former "Gasthof Zur Post"), Emil Rittershaus composed the Westfalenlied in 1869.

As a reminder of this event, the Westfalenlied can still be heard regularly from the glockenspiel today (usually at 6 p.m. - see below).

In 2007, the Iserlohn carillon was completely renovated in just under a month - a record-breaking feat considering that it had taken almost a year for the work to finally begin.

This was finally made possible by a generous donation from Sparkasse Iserlohn.

It was only thanks to this pledge that the city of Iserlohn was able to set out in search of the builder who had fitted out the carillon almost 25 years ago to the day.

The Küchenberg company from Iserlohn provided the scaffolding, which was used by a specialist company from northern Germany to dismantle all the bells and the entire control and ringing technology.

This was then cleaned, repaired and serviced. This was the most expensive part of the entire refurbishment and this is exactly why the donation from the Sparkasse was so urgently needed.

The defective and completely outdated control technology was replaced by a new computer-controlled system.

With the support of the vocational training center, the tower was derusted and painted. The paints and materials were supplied by the Iserlohn company Magney.

The carillon's repertoire naturally includes the Westfalenlied and 19 (seasonally varying) songs.
