The Lüdenscheid History Museum is dedicated to the topic of "regional history". In addition to the permanent exhibition on the industrial history of Lüdenscheid and the region, the museum presents changing special exhibitions on industrial, mental and social history topics every year.
The museum's exhibitions present significant topics from regional history. For the special exhibitions, themes are deliberately chosen that focus on industry, nature and people in their socio-historical context. It is precisely this selection of themes that appeals to people in the region, makes them curious about "their" history, proud of "their" achievements and motivates them to draw strength for the present from history.
