The historic town hall was built in the Baroque style between 1726 and 1730 by the master builder Michael Spanner from Erwitte.
The gable and the spatial structure of the upper floor reflect the centuries-old constitutional history of the town of Rüthen, dominated by the stylish council chamber, which is reached from the forecourt by an extraordinary two-flight arched staircase made of Rüthen green sandstone.
