Hikes around the Wienhagen Tower
The Wienhagen Tower is a worthwhile destination for a hike through a charming, hilly landscape on the border with Bergisches Land. The 16-metre-high viewing tower sits enthroned on a hilltop (479 m above sea level) in the middle of the nature and landscape conservation area. The viewing platform is accessible all year round via 76 steps and offers a view as far as the Siebengebirge near Bonn on a clear day. The observation tower was initially made of wood and was replaced in 1929 by the current concrete tower, which was painted by Kierspe artist Werner Baumgart in 2000.
The numerous, fairly short hiking trails in the "Wienhagen" lead along forest paths. Those who prefer longer distances can reach the multi-award-winning gold village of Rönsahl, the Lingesetalsperre dam or the Kerspetalsperre dam from the hiking parking lot.
