On the way along historic paths
The hiking parking lot "Oberforstmeister-Sorg-Weg" is not only an entry point to the 24 km long Hilchenbacher Höhenringbut also the starting point for numerous hikes and walks. The A 7 (7.2 km) is the start of a beautiful circular trail that first leads downhill through the forest via the "Wigrow" rest area to the current border between Siegen and Sauerland. This used to be the old border crossing between Nassau-Siegen and Kurköln, the so-called Kölsche Heck. Remains of the old land hedge, boundary stones and impressive hollow paths, which are evidence of old trade relations, can still be seen today. After crossing the Dollenbruch stream, you continue into the species-rich "Dollenbruch" nature reserve with its moorland and alder forests, beautiful wild meadows and scattered Wacholderheide. The route leads uphill via the "Vorspanneiche" hiking parking lot back to the starting point.
During the hike, you have the opportunity to use a smartphone to locate the places "Kölsche Heck"and "Dollenbruch" from the "Grenzgeschichten hautnah" series audibly.
Further hiking trails from the Oberforstmeister-Sorg-Weg:
The A 2 is a 10.8 km circular tour that leads around the Rothenberg, passing the urban area of Hilchenbach, the Galgenberg and Sonnenhang. For a shorter distance (3 km), you can take a tour below the Wimberg ( A 6).
