Hiking experiences along the border with the Hessian Lahn-Dill district
The "Hinterm Holländer Garten" hiking parking lot is a popular starting point for hikes through the Geiersgrundtal valley. The A 5 is the start of a beautiful 5.6 km circular tour that leads uphill and downhill and offers fantastic views along the way. Mainly on forest paths, the hiking trail first leads past the Ermeskopf to the Hormigbach. At the fork in the path, turn right to the coffee beech, where an ancient tree once stood and is now a popular place to rest. A small section of the circular route then runs along the Rothaarsteigbefore turning right and returning to the starting point. From the hiking parking lot, it is also worth taking a walk to the center of the village to the Hainchen moated castlethe only hilltop moated castle in the South Südwestfalen region.
Further tips:
A 4- Circular route: On this circular route, you walk a short loop below the Ermeskopf.
A 6 circular route: The first few meters of the hiking trail are the same as A 5. Instead of turning right at the fork to Kaffeebuche, turn left towards Homirgrücken. The loop then rejoins the A 5 at the Kaffeebuche.
Cycling tours are also possible from the hiking parking lot (Netpher Radring) and hikes in the direction of Eisentraße, Lahnhof and the nature park jewel "Waldinformationszentrum Forsthaus Hohenroth" are also recommended.
