Hikes around the Ginsberg Heid

The area of the nature park jewel "Ginsberger Heid" is not only known for its rare flora and fauna, including ecologically valuable old forest structures of deciduous and coniferous trees with a high proportion of deadwood, but also for its history and the annual KulturPur festival. You can get a good overview with the family-friendly 4 km circular tour (A 1)which first leads to the Gillerberg tower . From the platform of the 15 m high tower, you have a wonderful view of the Siegerland, Wittgenstein and Hochsauerland. The route then leads downhill on the Rothaarsteig to the town of Hilchenbach's landmark, Ginsburg Castle. It was here that William of Orange planned the Dutch war of liberation in 1568. If the weather is clear, you should also enjoy the distant views here. On rustic forest paths, you walk along the nature playground and through the nature reserve back to the starting point. The marked circular trails A 3 towards Altenteich (9.2 km) and A 7 around the Pfaffenhain (2.4 km) also start from here. In winter, the toboggan slope, ski slope or cross-country ski trail invite you to get active.

Further hiking options:

- the approximately 6 km long nature adventure trail, which leads through the nature reserve, which is characterized by Heid, moor, bristle grass lawns and rough pastures. Forests of birch, beech and maple also frame the open landscape.

- It is possible to join the Siegerland-Höhenring on foot or by bike

- you can also start the seventh stage of the Talsperrenweg (x3)
