The Geismar 1996 Local History and Cultural Association (Heimat- und Kulturverein e. V.), which operates the museum in the Geismar neighborhood, has made it its mission to preserve tradition, bring the past to life, and pass on traditional crafts, such as the art of flax processing. The museum houses the permanent exhibitions “From Flax to Linen” and “Copper and Silver Mining.” It also features rotating exhibitions of photography, art, and artifacts.
Guided tours and demonstrations are available for registered groups and school classes, and bookable demonstrations of the process from flax to linen are offered at special events.
