It belongs to Lippstadt like the river Lippe: the impressive civic fountain on the town hall square. If you want to learn about the town's more than 800-year history, you should definitely visit this sight.
The Citizens' Fountain is embedded in the atmospheric surroundings of the Town Hall Square. Together with St. Mary's Church and the town hall, the fountain forms a beautiful ensemble. The sparkling water flows from the Lippische Rose over several levels into the basin of the fountain. The water feature is surrounded by figures depicting important personalities and the coats of arms of Lippstadt's sovereigns.
Even Frederick the Great can be seen here, as well as local historical figures such as the town's founder Bernhard II, Mayor Friedrich Bertram and Dr. Johannes Westermann adorn the magnificent civic fountain in the Altstadt. The entourage is completed by Amalie Elisabeth von Hessen-Kassel, who often traveled to Lippstadt, the novel character Simplizius Simplizissimus as well as the merchant, farmer and tanner, who represent the three estates of the town.
