There has been an Artothek in Soest since 1980. Until 2007 it was part of the municipal library, but since 2008 it has been run by volunteers from the Soest District Art Association . Almost 500 works - mostly prints - are available to anyone who wants to embellish their living room, office or practice with "temporary art". The collection, which covers many styles and formats, is constantly being expanded through purchases, donations and loans.

The Artothek is located in the Wilhelm Morgner Museum. The loan fee for a picture is 5 euros plus 1 euro as an insurance contribution for three months.
