Welcome to our restaurant with its adjoining sun terrace and view of Lake Eder.
A family tree, photos from the good old days, plenty of wood from our homeland, cozy benches, warm colors, and traditional family recipes—all given a modern twist—along with friendly service. All of this helps create an atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy yourself. Bon appétit!
We, the Gerlachs, are Waldeckers through and through. Rooted in the region, yet open to the big wide world. This is also reflected in our menu: We offer both down-to-earth, traditional dishes and international fare, prepared—whenever possible—with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Sustainability is the order of the day; freshness is our motto. That’s one of the reasons we started raising a small herd of cattle years ago—a herd that has since grown to the point where we can cover a large portion of our kitchen’s meat needs with the beef we produce. We’re also quite proud to be recognized today as an organic and certified agricultural operation. Isn’t it good to know that our animals are raised in a species-appropriate manner and are allowed to grow up outdoors? Feeding and caring for them has become a passion for our host, Christian Gerlach.
We prefer to buy vegetables, fruit, eggs, game, and poultry from regional producers and suppliers. This keeps transportation distances short and is better for the environment. During the fall hunting season, local hunters supply us with game. The delicious, crispy St. Martin’s goose had previously enjoyed a happy life, raised in a species-appropriate manner on the large goose pasture at a neighboring farm.
