Every year on the first weekend of Advent, the Christmas market in Marsberg rings in the Christmas season with its village of huts on the church square. The Christmas market opens on Friday. The festively decorated huts on the church square get visitors in the mood for the most wonderful time of the year shortly before the first Advent. The stalls offer everything associated with the Advent season. A varied program awaits visitors on the Christmas market stage. Schools, kindergartens and music clubs show what they have rehearsed.
Saturday is always dedicated to the lighting of the Advent candle at the Bilstein Tower with the "Festival of Lights". Youth firefighters from the city carry the torches to the Bilstein Tower. Visitors to the Festival of Lights and the Christmas market can then watch from the church square as the Marsberg landmark slowly begins to glow red.
St. Nicholas traditionally comes on Sunday. The stores in the town center are also open from 1 pm to 6 pm.
