“Makula” – Noah Kauertz and Fabian Seemann
Exhibition by the Kunstverein Brilon
Noah Kauertz’s works are always characterized by a certain theatrical quality. The pictorial space is understood not merely as a unified whole, but also as fragmentary. Multiple perspectives and overlays destabilize logical space. Nevertheless, an underlying order seems to lend stability to the motifs. Viewers are confronted with the complexity of their own perception. In his paintings, Fabian Seemann explores the contrast between the sharp focus of the field of vision and the blurred periphery. He pulls apart the dual perspective of our senses—which we perceive as a single unit—to make us search for an uncertain center within the subtle shifts.
The two former classmates present representational paintings that, despite their individuality, are also related to one another.
