The Minguet Quartet—founded in 1988—is now one of the most sought-after string quartets internationally and performs in all the world’s major concert halls, where its passionate and intelligent interpretations provide an exhilarating listening experience.

The Minguet Quartet focuses equally on the Classical and Romantic repertoires as well as on modern music, and is committed to 21st-century compositions through numerous world premieres. Encounters with leading contemporary composers inspire the four musicians to continually develop new program ideas. A highlight of recent years was the performance of Karlheinz Stockhausen’s “Helikopter-Streichquartett” as part of a concept by conductor Kent Nagano.
The quartet consistently places major composers at the center of its programming. In 2007, the focus will be on the 200th anniversary of L. v. Beethoven’s death—as will be the case at the Minguet Quartet’s performance in Attendorn. To mark this occasion, the musicians will present their main program: Beethoven’s String Quartet, Op. 131, preceded by W. A. Mozart’s String Quartet, K. 421, and Alexander Zemlinsky’s String Quartet No. 3, Op. 19.

In 2010, the Minguet Quartet was awarded the ECHO Klassik, and in 2015, the prestigious French Diapason d’Or of the Year; in 2020, it received the RELOAD grant from the German Federal Cultural Foundation. In 2024, the ensemble served as a Schönberg150 ambassador and was a member of the honorary artistic committee of the Arnold Schönberg Center in Vienna. The Kunststiftung NRW has been a long-standing and regular partner of the Minguet Quartet on numerous innovative projects both in Germany and abroad.
