After 42 years of school cabaret, it’s time to retire from the stage—after more than 1,250 performances, the Adolphinum is closing its doors for good.
“Wonderful, Dr. Bass!”—when Senior Teacher Karl-Eduard Krick flatters his former boss with these words, the audience once again has a full program of the daktiker’s performances fresh in their minds and in their funny bones: traditionally, this song is the quartet’s first encore.
In November 1984, Messrs. Boxhammer, Königs, and Skutnik—at the start of their teaching internships in Bielefeld—could never have imagined that their very first show, “Das macht Schule—Cabaret for Teachers and Those Who Still Want to Become One,” would become such a long-running hit and a surefire success. Thanks to Brigitte Lämbgen, the trio has long since become a quartet. To wrap things up, familiar characters like Principal Lengowski, Messrs. Müller-Liebenstreit, Lass, and Krick, and Janitor Maus bring school life and politics from past decades back to life once again. Both unforgettable and repressed memories, as well as current and future topics, are examined and illuminated through the lens of cabaret. These very latest glimpses into school life are complemented by brief personal anecdotes from 42 wonderful years on stage. In that sense, there is, after all, just a little something new to wrap things up…
Old and brand-new routines and songs are spiced up with witty commentary
