In commemoration of the anniversary of Kristallnachtin Brilon: Dance performance “The White Rose” – Karina Vormweg. Memorial ceremony at the memorial stone at the former synagogue
#gegendasvergessen
Munich, Stadelheim, 1943. These are the final hours before the execution of Sophie and Hans Scholl, members of the resistance movement “The White Rose.” To this day, the Scholl siblings remain role models for courage, moral courage, freedom, and humanity. In this critical moment of their lives, the focus is on their feelings, worries, and thoughts shortly before their deaths, which are sensitively and expressively conveyed through dance to the music of Udo Zimmermann’s opera of the same name. Diary entries, texts, and poems reflect their situation.
Following the performance, starting at 7:00 p.m., a memorial march will proceed from the old Jewish cemetery through City Hall and the streets of Brilon to the memorial at the site of the former Jewish synagogue on Kreuziger Mauer. There, the Brilon Youth Parliament invites everyone to a joint memorial service to commemorate this dark chapter in German and Brilon history and to stand as a symbol of peace, against violence, and against forgetting.
Admission is free; donations are welcome!
Organized by: Brilon Kultour, Evangelical Church Congregation, Brilon Youth Parliament
