The 16 state music councils in Germany have designated 2026 as the Year of the Accordion. This is a great opportunity for the Kulturring to feature this instrument as the centerpiece of one of its concerts and to once again invite Pavel Efremov—a scholarship recipient supported by “Best of NRW” 2024—to Attendorn.
“Breath of Depth”—under this title, he will present a program spanning the Baroque, modern, and tango genres together with bassoonist Emanuel Blumin-Sint. The concert will feature duo music by Telemann, Tansman, and Piazzolla, as well as the famous Chaconne from Bach’s Partita No. 2, BWV 1004, for solo accordion and a Humoresque for bassoon by Yuri Povolotsky. The orchestral versatility of the accordion in dialogue with the warm timbre of the bassoon creates an extraordinary chamber music experience.
Pavel Efremov is the winner of the 2024 Folkwang Prize and is regarded as one of the most distinctive voices of his generation in the field of classical and contemporary accordion music.
Bassoonist Emanuel Blumin-Sint is a fellow of the German Music Life Foundation and, among other honors, a recipient of the Fanny Mendelssohn Encouragement Award.
