The German-Canadian Amadeus Guitar Duo and the two guitarists from the Aurea Vox duo, Hans-Werner Huppertz and Goran Krivokapic, have known each other for many years through encounters at guitar and music festivals around the world. Their love for highly diverse programs inspired the four musicians to create an evening featuring works for one, two, and four guitars—a Guitar Gala Night.
The program takes the audience on an exciting journey through time, spanning works from the Baroque and Classical periods to music from the contemporary and modern eras. Thus, works by Boccherini and Vivaldi are juxtaposed with the Allegretto from Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, Karl Jenkins’s well-known “Palladio,” compositions by guitarist Dale Kavanagh, and music by the Italian composer and guitarist Carlo Domeniconi.
Founded in 1991 by Canadian Dale Kavanagh and German Thomas Kirchhoff, the Amadeus Guitar Duo is one of the most successful guitar duos of our time, with 21 CDs and over 1,800 concerts in more than 80 countries. Dale Kavanagh and Thomas Kirchhoff taught as professors in the guitar class at the Detmold University of Music from 2002 to 2020 and launched the International Guitar in Iserlohn, which is now one of the most important festivals of its kind worldwide. Hans-Werner Huppertz and Goran Krivokapic are professors of guitar at the Cologne University of Music and have both been performing worldwide for many years as soloists and in various ensembles.
