The Poetry Slam in the Sauerland
The Brilon Poetry Slam at "Wood and Soul" now draws wordsmiths from all over Germany to the Sauerland. Five experienced poets will perform their own works, using skillful verbal acrobatics to transport the audience into their world of ideas for a brief moment. Anything goes—from poetry to prose, from humorous to serious, from lighthearted to profound, from personal to social—as long as a few important rules are followed: the texts must be written by the performer themselves, no props or costumes are allowed, and there is a 6-minute time limit. And although it’s, of course, impossible to judge and compare art, that’s exactly what the audience will do this evening. Through applause and scoring, they’ll choose the winner of the evening, and we’re excited to see how the audience will decide. Davina Sauer will host the evening and help even first-time poetry slam attendees in the audience get familiar with this format in a straightforward way. We’re also looking forward to our guest performer, who will provide musical accompaniment throughout the evening.
