Seyolo Zantoko (Marc Hinga) is a newly graduated doctor in the Congo. When he is offered a job in a small village north of Paris, he decides to emigrate to France with his family. They expect Parisian city life, but instead encounter villagers who are meeting an African doctor for the first time in their lives and do everything they can to make life difficult for this “exotic” stranger. But someone who has bravely left their homeland and dared to make a fresh start in a foreign country won’t let that get them down so easily…. This culture-clash comedy won the Audience Award at the French Film Festival in Tübingen/Stuttgart. Based on a true story, the film remains highly relevant today. After all, the issue of immigration and the challenges it poses continue to divide Europe and its nations.
