High hiking quality confirmed again

There is great joy among local tourism experts: Several Sauerland hiking trails were once again awarded the coveted "Wanderbares Deutschland" quality trail designation by the German Hiking Association (DWV) at the CMT tourism trade fair in Stuttgart. The jury thus confirmed the continued high quality of the individual tours in areas such as marking, signposting and variety in the routing. But also sights along the way, gastronomic offers or nature highlights play a role in the evaluation.

Probably the best known of the re-certified hiking trails is without a doubt the Rothaarsteig. The long-distance hiking trail, which is popular throughout Germany, runs for 154 kilometers from the historic Hanseatic town of Brilon over the striking ridges of the Rothaargebirge mountains in a southerly direction to Dillenburg in Hessen and continues to bear the coveted "Quality Trail" seal. The Veischede Sun Trail offers 37 kilometers of hiking pleasure and also scores with magnificent panoramas and highlights such as Burg Bilstein or the ascent of the Aussichtsturm Hohe Bracht near Lennestadt.

The Myths and Legends Trail in Winterberg-Züschen, which has also been re-certified, is historical and sometimes a bit spooky. It is a good 27 kilometers long and takes you back to the mystical world of the early settlers and the Middle Ages in the Sauerland. The Brilon Kammweg is really demanding, covering almost 50 kilometers and more than 1,300 meters of altitude and leading to natural highlights such as the Ginterskopf and Hoher Eimberg, with a number of dream views - so it's no wonder that it has already received its fifth recertification. In addition, the 12.7-kilometer Rothaarsteig trail Sorper Panoramapfad also received recertification in the dream tour category and promises high-quality hiking pleasure.

"I am delighted that several hiking trails from the region have received the renewed certification," says Sabine Risse, outdoor manager at Sauerland Tourism. "This is absolutely not a matter of course and the result of continuous, intensive work on the product." And it pays off. Because vacation guests in the Sauerland can continue to look forward to carefree hiking pleasure with a special experience for all the senses.
