As part of the project Nature Experience Upstream on the Volme, the establishment of a mixed fruit orchard was completed in the village of Heesfeld in Halver in 2020. The Heesfelder Mühle e.V. association planted the orchard last year as part of the LEADER project and planted a total of 80 fruit trees of different varieties. However, the regional variety garden only recently received the finishing touches with the installation of information boards and a forest sofa by the association.
The information boards not only provide interested visitors with much worth knowing about the orchard habitat, but also offer a legend with locations of all planted trees. To make it easier to find one's way around the orchard among the apple, cherry, plum and pear trees, a QR code has been created which, when scanned with a smartphone, displays the legend on the visitor's mobile device. In this way, visitors can find their way around the variety garden and know directly which tree they are standing in front of. Further exciting information about the respective trees can be obtained by clicking on the variety name.
Anyone who wants to ponder over the literary fruit variety garden with poems in peace or simply take a comfortable break from their walk can now do so in a relaxed manner on the wooden forest sofa, which is also new. The sofa invites at the edge of the variety garden to the staying, with a mad view in the nature.
