In the coat of arms, the golden band of the Orpe with the mill wheel indicates the economic importance of the river with mill, hammer mill and sawmill. The tree is considered a symbol of life and prosperity, which is largely based on forest ownership. The Waldeck star reminds of the good neighborly relations with the principality of Waldeck.

The circular hiking trail on the rough pastures in the nature reserve "Glockengrund" preserves a natural and cultural heritage. In the Glockengrund you walk on old seabed over the Glocken Ridge or through the Hummelgrund and with a little luck you will meet a shepherd with his flock.
