In the middle of the municipality of Lippetal flows from east to west the eponymous Lippe. The Lippe is a right tributary of the Rhine in North Rhine-Westphalia with a catchment area of 4,888.7 km². The history of Lippe navigation dates back at least to Roman times; for the Romans already used the river to transport their goods with the help of small ships.
Experience the Lippe: Fishing, watching, canoeing, cycling (Römer-Lippe-Route, Auenland cycle path).
As part of the winning project in the "Erlebnis.NRW" tourism competition, experienceable floodplain landscapes and attractive nature observation opportunities were created for visitors to the Lippe and Ahse floodplains.
The "Radweg Auenland" leads you to these interesting places. The cycling map for this isavailable from the ABU or the municipality of Lippetal(www.lippetal.de).
The ABU = Arbeitsgemeinschaft Biologischer Umweltschutz im Kreis Soest e.V. offers guided excursions to the protected areas.
