Construction of the present church began in 1926, so that the cornerstone could be laid on May 1, 1927. On June 29, 1933, on St. Peter and Paul's Day, the Archbishop of Paderborn, Dr. Caspar Klein, performed the solemn consecration. The organ was damaged in the turmoil of the Second World War and was repaired in 1946 by the organ building company Stockmann from Werl.
